Norton just smiles at Agent Burke's suspicious expression. The beauty of the semi-bollocks he spouted is that it's so much less bollocks than the actual truth. He didn't mention aliens, time travel, or interdimensional spaceships at all. He doesn't need to worry about Agent Burke discovering the truth, just give him some explanation to hold onto, regardless of how much Burke distrusts it.
