[ Kendall's thought it through. A lot. It stands to reason that Neal's going to read the file at some point anyway, so whether Kendall inadvertently prompts it by contacting him or not is sort of irrelevant. He's just got to get ahead of it, before Neal does something that ruins everything. ]
Hey. So. We should talk. Um, right now, actually. [ A beat. ] I need to explain. Let me explain, okay? Before you do anything.

[Some time in the night after this, some paper, folded in half, is slid under Neal's door. It's about 6 pages of tightly squeezed handwritten notes about trauma and specifically the impact of emotional injuries over time. It's a basic psychological case for treating emotional injuries as urgently as physical injuries. It's a scientific case for the things Neal was saying before the call went bad. It's not signed, though Neal probably recognizes Malcolm's handwriting. There's no comment offered with it, but is clearly how he spent at least several hours of the evening and night.]
Um. Hi.
[Neal said they could do something at port, but Malcolm does recall that he was teed up last time they talked and insulted his stupid doofus of a friend.]
Do you still want to do something? They have lots of stuff.

Attached is raw data from the post I made earlier this month asking inmates if the Admiral offered them a spot on the Barge or simply drafted them here.
As less than half of Barge responded, it is useless for statistical analysis. But results are interesting nonetheless.
[ and then attached is a bigass spreadsheet. Hilbert, in true Hilbert fashion, has put in as much data and draw as many connections between his few questions as humanly possible. But here are the highlights:
19 people responded
7 were asked and agreed to come upon the Barge.
12 were not asked to come upon those Barge.
Of those not asked, 1 would agreed to have come if asked.
Certain personality traits are shared between those who the Admiral asked (egotistical, self-important) and those who he didn't ask (antisocial, combative personality).
All data on the spreadsheet is anonymized, with no names attached. ]

Okay.
[It doesn’t make sense. The statement was made in public. Doesn’t understanding it better benefit everyone who hears it? But he trusts Neal and he wouldn’t tell him this if it wasn’t what he believed. And he’s good with people. So. Okay.]

Hi Neal. How are you? Are you busy?
{ Lestat is wary to leave the cabin while people are having things about themselves printed on display for everyone to see, but he feels it's been perhaps a bit too long since he and Neal have had a proper chat. The last few times have been less than pleasant, at least, and Lestat is reluctantly willing to brave the halls to Neal's cabin. He knocks lightly on the door. In his hand, a bottle of wine found at the last port. }
From here
Malcolm knocks on the door, a thermos in hand. The tea Neal likes. He wants to talk about some things and also see how some things are going for Neal. He knows what Norton was going to do the day Neal's coma started and he wonders if he can find out whether he's done it since without giving it away.

What did you and Shaw argue about back when Will killed Avalon?
Hi Neal. Are you free? I'd like to go to the art gazebo and try art therapy again. My mother tried to get me into it at home, but it didn't work for me. I think I need more... room for expression than a bowl of fruit. Can you help me? You saw my last attempt at painting.
POST - more to talk about. Bring it right up to date :)

I can't help but remember that one.
[His voice was soft, calm.]
Do ya have a moment ta spare, boyo?

[ After this post. ]
Hi, Neal. I know you were pointing most of the discussion in your last post towards wardens, but I did want to poke my head in here. Because I have always agreed with you when you talk about these sorts of things, and it's nice that someone's looking out for the rest of us, even after they're graduated.
The mediation idea is a good one, and I think it could work. Kiryu managed to get Shaw and Malcolm talking, somehow. [ He chuckles. ] Honestly, I might not have believed it, if I hadn't been there.
Setting anything more formal up is probably going to be a slog, and I don't envy you the arguments you undoubtedly got. I'm sure more than one person got lost in technicalities. No one on this boat can agree on a goddamn thing. But if it results in any people being treated like actual people and not case studies, it's probably worth it.
Anyway...thanks. It's appreciated.

...I hope you realize the delicacy of some of the information detailed within, but I thought it... time, perhaps, that you were aware there were other inmates who were frustrated with Herr Grey as well. That was not the first time wherein I offered my assistance and was... rebuffed, to put it mildly.
And for the record, my warden was given this discussion, confronted Herr Grey, and forbid him from talking to me henceforth, offering himself as liason for any important communication. This was shortly before he disappeared but I have no doubt Herr Archer would have been very firm in enforcing such a boundary on my behalf.
